How to make a Gobo Monogram

Gobos and Gobo Monogram lighting have become extremely popular over the years and to no surprise – they can add a huge “wow factor” to your event in regards to custom lighting.  A “gobo” is either a pattern or custom design that is shined onto a particular surface.  They’re not simple, or cheap either and getting your dreams to reality takes a bit of planning, resources, expertise and knowledge. A complete gobo or gobo monogram projection consists of...

Lindsey & Dru’s Balboa Park Wedding

The Prado in Balboa Park is one of San Diego’s most popular wedding venue and there’s little question as to why.  Dru & Lindsey held their celebration in style and it was a great one!  They were referred by a past couple, Heath & Alexis who were present at the wedding – always great to see past clients! The ceremony was on-site at the Casa Del Rey Moro Gardens where we helped with the Ceremony Sound System, followed by a Cocktail Hour in the Fountain Courtyard...

Allan and Alison’s Hilton Torrey Pines Wedding

Allan and Alison celebrated their all-inclusive wedding day at the Hilton Torrey Pines in La Jolla, CA.  The wedding ceremony was outside an the Parterre Garden followed by a Cocktail Hour inside the Foyer of the Grande Ballroom. We helped light up the room with Blue Uplighting along with a Custom Gobo Monogram that was also further highlighted with custom surrounding light effects.  It really made the otherwise empty air wall really stand out – good thing since the focus point was...

Sophie & Renwick’s Island Palms December Wedding

Sophie & Renwick held their small, intimate December wedding at the Island Palms Hotel & Marina in San Diego and didn’t hold back on anything!  It was just a few days after the Christmas Holiday which made it a perfect way to celebrate with family and close friends. The late December weather was nearly perfect, although the winds coming off of the adjacent harbor made for a chilly, but memorable ceremony held at the Sunset Garden. The ceremony concluded with a Dove Release...

Carmel Mountain Ranch Corporate Party DJ & Lighting

A past bride of mine contacted me after 4 years since doing her wedding, and they were looking to “change things up” with their holiday party being held at the Carmel Mountain Ranch Country Club. They had also re-branded themselves with a new identity and logo so wanted to help show it off. After recommending a custom gobo monogram projection using their new logo, along with some uplighting to match their coporate colors, the stage was set.  The corporate holiday party included...

Nat & Elaine Celebrate 50 Years at Bernardo Winery

I have known Nat & Elaine for years as members of my Running Club so it was an extra special honor to assist them with their big day . . . they each celebrated their 50th birthday, and each within about a week of each other.  They planned an intimate gathering of the closest family and friends at the Bernardo Winery inside the Barrel Room. I assisted them in planning out the agenda, timeline and special events they wished to have, which included some speeches, a special recognition to...

Enoc & Cindy Lit up at Marina Village

Enoc and Cindy held their “holiday” weekend wedding on the Friday following Thanksgiving.  They obviously had alot to be thankful for, and their wedding was a memorable one held in the Baja Room at Marina Village.  I’ve never seen the Baja Room look so good! We provided Uplighting and a Gobo Monogram.  The gobo itself was designed by their designer and matched their “branding” throughout as it was used on their dinner menus, wedding programs and other...

Can a Gobo Monogram be Moved mid-event?

Can a Gobo Monogram be Moved mid-event?

I sometimes get asked if a Gobo Monogram projection / fixture can be moved in the middle of the event.  Say between dinner and dancing.  Technically, yes it can.  Practically, not so. The gobo monogram projection/fixture typically setup and shown on a single area all night. It’s a bit of a complex setup/fixture and moving it in the middle of the night would be disruptive, etc. For instance, because the fixture uses a 750W bulb (at least the fixtures that we use, very bright/hot) the...

Brad and Kristine at The Crossings

Brad and Christine had their combined wedding ceremony and reception at the popular Crossings Resort up in Carlsbad. It was another potentially rainy October day, but the weather held off and provided a unique misty and overcast ceremony. We had the option to move the ceremony indoors, but Kristine insisted that stay outside and it paid off.  It was a great party from beginning to end! The dinner reception inside was just as gorgeous or we provided up lighting and a custom Gobo Monogram on...
