String Lighting (aka Market Lights) add a unique look to this wedding at the Japanese Friendship garden.
Market Lighting (aka Bistro Lighting), is yet another way to compliment your event by providing an elegant and classy touch. Market Lights are typically hung overhead, across attachment points. There are many different types of string lights:
Basic Globe Lights
Spanned across Trussing or Poles
How Much do Market Lights?
Due to the complexity of each setup and arrangement, a custom quote will usually be required. Generally, we will come out to the venue/location and do a walk through planning estimate to make recommendations as to design, estimate the type and quantity of equipment involved and prepare a custom quote for you.
String Lighting / Market Lights (Overhead) generally cost between $900 and $1,750 depending on the number of strings, distances and complexity of the setup. Most weddings fall somewhere in the middle of that price range.
Adding paper globe lanterns to overhead String/Market Lighting generally costs between $100 and $200 depending on the quantity, sizing and type of lantern. Not only does it cover the cost of the lanterns, they add time to the setup/strike due to actually hanging each one.
Why so much? Some are surprised on the cost until they realize what goes into them. Not only does installing Market Lights require alot of specialized equipment such as rigging, poles/bases, steel cabling, special connectors, specialized electrical equipment, etc. they take a good deal of manpower to install properly. Most jobs require 2-4 guys for 2-3.5 hours to setup, and 1-2 hours to break down- and that’s with experience and the proper tools and equipment. The string lighting you see at most weddings and events not your average Christmas Lights from Walmart either.
We’ve actually done a few “last minute market lights” at weddings after the couple (one time, the father of the Bride) realized it was getting too hard.
