Trick or Treat for Corporate

Today was a nice day and a little bit of a change. I was called by an existing corporate client, ViaSat up in Carlsbad (I’ve done their big holiday parties in the past – 600+ people), to provide to music and DJ services for their Halloween event. The first half was a costume contest for the employees that I provided music and announcements. The second half was for the families as they were allowed to bring their children and families back to the corporate grounds and have...

Just Like My Child Fundraiser

I had the opportunity to work with a very special nonprofit organization, Just Like My Child in late October for their annual fundraising gala. The event was held at the magnificent Rancho Santa Fe home of John Asaraf. We provided audiovisual services, up lighting inside and out, area lighting, gobo/pattern lighting and Music/DJ services both inside and out.  The supply was so large, that we started setup and testing of the A/V system the day before.  The music was a blend of unique African...

Can a Gobo Monogram be Moved mid-event?

I sometimes get asked if a Gobo Monogram projection / fixture can be moved in the middle of the event.  Say between dinner and dancing.  Technically, yes it can.  Practically, not so. The gobo monogram projection/fixture typically setup and shown on a single area all night. It’s a bit of a complex setup/fixture and moving it in the middle of the night would be disruptive, etc. For instance, because the fixture uses a 750W bulb (at least the fixtures that we use, very bright/hot) the fixture...

Brett and Jennifer had their big day at Old Poway Park. They went for a country themed wedding and it was evident from everything from the outdoor country setting to the table decorations to the music selections. The rain held off for the day but it did cause a scare during set up as it look like it was going to downpour any minute. It turned out to be a gorgeous evening and the longer than usual wedding day of 8 hours, ended up flying by! Large Supply We had quite a large supply again (seems...

Brad and Kristine at The Crossings

Brad and Christine had their combined wedding ceremony and reception at the popular Crossings Resort up in Carlsbad. It was another potentially rainy October day, but the weather held off and provided a unique misty and overcast ceremony. We had the option to move the ceremony indoors, but Kristine insisted that stay outside and it paid off.  It was a great party from beginning to end! The dinner reception inside was just as gorgeous or we provided up lighting and a custom Gobo Monogram on the...

Chris & Debbie’s Tom Ham’s Lighthouse Wedding

Chris and Debby held their Southern California Wedding at Tom Ham’s Lighthouse. I was very excited to be apart of their big day and to provide DJ/MC Services at their Reception, as well as Uplighting,  and a Video Slideshow! Chris and Debby made their grand entrance into the Lighthouse that was lit up with Golden Yellow Uplighting that made the room pop and went straight into their first dance “Love Me Tender” by Norah Jones! After dinner we set up the equipment Chris and...
